Want to gain at least six months’ practical teaching experience abroad and get paid for it? It’s possible: simply apply to the Pedagogical Exchange Service as a foreign language teaching assistant (FSA). Depending on the country of assignment, you’ll support German teachers at schools abroad for between five and eleven months; in some destination countries, this will be at universities. The application deadline for the USA is 11 November 2026; for all other destination countries, it is 15 January 2027.

EmpowerMent is committed to greater educational equity at the university and supports students through peer mentoring, workshops and opportunities for exchange in a variety of formats. The programme is aimed particularly at students who are the first in their family to study, have a migrant background, live with a health condition, or face additional challenges in their studies for other reasons.
The regular registration period begins in October. You can pre-register now, with no obligation, and become part of the community.

This Online Study Choice Assistant (OSA) is designed to help you gain an initial overview of what studying here can look like. It aims to support you as you explore your options and get a sense of the academic environment, campus culture, and practical steps involved in becoming a student here. Within this OSA, you will find detailed information about the different study pathways available to you. You will also learn about essential administrative requirements and how to prepare for life in Freiburg.

EPICUR invites students from all partner universities to join the EPICUR Autumn Courses 2026. Registration is now open and will close on 22 June (or 21 September for courses starting in mid-October). These courses will broaden your academic perspective, enabling you to collaborate with students across Europe and gain experience beyond your regular curriculum.
